Bio
Buscabulla is a Spanish-language experimental pop project helmed by Raquel Berrios and Luis Del Valle. While both were born and raised in Puerto Rico, it wasn't until 2011 while living in NYC that the producer, designer, songwriter, and DJ Berrios teamed up with producer and multi-instrumentalist Del Valle. Together they formed "troublemaker", or “Buscabulla", as it's known in Puerto Rican slang. Buscabulla's debut EP was co-produced with Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange) and subsequently released on the Kitsuné Musique label in 2014. Buscabulla's second EP, II, was self-produced and self-released in January 2017.

"The Puerto Rican duo moved back to the island in the wake of Hurricane Maria, and their joyful and melancholic new album takes stock of their changed home."
-Pitchfork

"Buscabulla's sound remains sonically sequestered on a lush little island of its own... Regresa offers an accidentally time-appropriate reprieve that is at once a tropical vacation and a poetic reckoning with the very conscious act of going, being, and staying home.”
-Paper

"It reflects their journey, consciousness, and culmination of the music Buscabulla was destined to make… indie music that is positively Puerto Rican.”
- Paste: Best of What's Next

"Slick grooves and sparks of hope... The journey home for the pair has been perilous, but that mix of rage and hope is potent... Regresa is a magnificent rumination on those complex emotions."
-NME

Following the catastrophic events of Hurricane Maria in the fall of 2017, Luis Del Valle and Raquel Berrios pka Buscabulla returned home to Aguadilla, a small coastal town on the northwest shore of their native Puerto Rico, to re-connect with their roots, bring much needed global attention to the island's post-hurricane condition and record their debut album for Ribbon Music.

Since their return, Buscabulla have established the non-profit Prima Fund and readied the stand alone single "Vamono" to be released on Sept 25th.

"Vamono" is the first song both written and conceived on the artists home island of Puerto Rico. The song is a rally to those who have returned as well those whom have left. An urgent reminder to connect with your history, your roots, your very own self.

“'Vámono,' the first taste of Buscabulla’s forthcoming debut album, is a tribute to the spirit of resistance... a bolder sound... they represent the soul of an island ready for a better future."
- Pitchfork 'Track Review'

"Synth-pop outfit Buscabulla turn their tropical dreams into reality with their rousing new song, 'Vámono.'"

Previous Press:

"Buscabulla’s music resides somewhere between the cold, hyper-urban streets of New York City and the warm, tropical grit of Puerto Rico."
- The Village Voice

"You could picture their set underscoring a Nuyorican roller rink in the '70s."
- NPR

"Berrios’ lyrics convey a longing, distant gaze that buffers out the island’s rough edges, a magical oasis that exists only in dreams."
- Pitchfork

“[Buscabulla] sounds like the score to a Puerto Rican retelling of Boogie Nights . . . ripe with unabashed sensuality and buffed with a vintage Seventies sparkle.”
- Rolling Stone

"Buscabulla make salsa-inspired dance tracks that make you want to take your clothes off and shimmy in the nude." -
- The Fader

"The tune is a must-listen, both for the mesmerizing collaboration and for its message: beckoning for the warmth of the island during the dead cold of winter."
