Bio
How do you best describe Angel Olsen? From the lo-fi, sparse folk-melancholy of her 2010 EP, Strange Cacti, to the electrified, polished rock ‘n’ roll bursting from 2016’s beloved and acclaimed My Woman, Olsen has refused to succumb to a single genre, expectation, or vision. Impossible to pin down, Olsen navigates the world with her remarkable, symphonic voice and a propensity for narrative, her music growing into whatever shape best fits to tell the story. Which brings us to Phases, an album that allows a moment of thoughtful, reflective calm amongst a year of success and growth.

"All Mirrors isn’t an indie rock album. It’s too rich and lush and open. Its scope is too big. It demands to be heard in concert halls with ornate domes and tapestries and shit."

"Her recently released third album, My Woman, is a striking collection that recalls everything from the blazing melodrama of Nineties PJ Harvey to the most sparkling moments of Fleetwood Mac's Mirage."

"Olsen is a firm performer, but in the moments where her voice gives just a little— you can hear it at the end of each verse, as she readies herself for the chorus, the briefest flash of wildness—the crowd trembled in unison."

"Burn Your Fire for No Witness finds the singer-songwriter inhabiting a fuller, louder sound and embracing punchier song structures. The blown-out, full-band energy enlivens Olsen, kindling an intensity that’s always been present in her songs and fanning the flames even higher." Best New Music 8.3*
